Here’s some info you might want to know if you’ve got a line through any one of my networks.

You’ll receive a username, login and password from me upon registration. Login might be called something like “Authentication” on some clients. Just message me if you need help figuring out how to enter this info.

Features

Most of my exchanges have no features—no call waiting, auto-ring, &c. Voicemail is available for select exchanges as described below.

Voicemail

If you’ve got a number on PhreakNet through the MAdison-3 or FUrry-7 offices, they have voicemail available for use, though it’s not enabled by default. If you want an online “answering machine”, call the business office at MA3-1212 to set it up.

You may access your voicemailbox at any time by dialing 86 on tone-dial, or 0099 86 on pulse-dial. If you want to access your voicemailbox from outside the line associated with said box, you can dial MA3-8686 from any PhreakNet line. MWI subscriptions will work if you have such capabilities.

The subscriber-end interactive menu uses Asterisk’s Comedian Voicemail. The prompts are simple to understand, though you might benefit from reading RDI’s guide.

Dialplan

Dial pound (#) to get a dialtone. If you’re on a pulse-dial phone through an ATA, have the ATA automatically dial pound when you go off-hook. Otherwise, dialing a number will just call it regularly through SIP.

Internetwork routing

If you’ve got numbers on multiple exchanges of mine, you can access any of them from any one of your endpoints. If you don’t have a number on a network you’re trying to access, or if you don’t have permission to access the PSTN, you’ll receive a congestion signal. FurryTel and internal extensions are available for everyone.

Surely there’s a better way to notate this.

Basically, once you dial the 00X(X) prefix, anything else you dial will be interpreted as if you’re on that network. For example, from C*NET, dialing “001 811” will take you to the PhreakNet business office. The exception is that PSTN CPDR is handled locally, which enables seven-digit dialing in the home NPA of 304.

If you want calls from one network to ring your phone(s) located on another network, that’s different. Just get a hold of me and I’ll quickly set it up for you.
