Furry stuff

Bust of an anthropomorphic red-bellied woodpecker

I’m somewhat active in the local furry community. I attend Anthrocon as well as a good few Pittsburgh meets; and I’ve found myself president of Mountain State Furries, a West Virginian nonprofit.

Fursonas

Unlike some furries who have multiple ‘sonas and switch them out often, I pretty much stick to one: Andy Sterling, a red-bellied woodpecker. I was formerly a deer, Jack Sterling; and before that, I was a brony, going under the name Harmonic Hooves.

In re the two Sterlings: I was originally just Sterling, which originated as an IRL nickname. Then at some point, I decided to give my deer character a first name, since Sterling seemed more like a last name in that context. When I decided to become a bird in ‘24, I kept Sterling as a surname, but gave the new character a different forename to differentiate the two.

Archiving & posterity

I like archiving stuff for others to be able to view and read about later on. Namely, I’ve put together the iBrony/PhilomenaMagikz Keep-in-Touch Project, which is admittedly on a bit of hiatus as of writing. At some point, though, I do plan to write up a reasonably thorough history of furries in West Virginia.
